Martie Maguire (born Martha Erwin) is one of the founding members of the chart-topping country music band the Dixie Chicks. Originating from Dallas, Texas, the group got their start in 1989 but it wasn't until the late '90s that they would find great success. Since 1998 the Dixie Chicks have released four consecutive number one albums: Wide Open Spaces (1998), Fly (1999), Home (2002), and Taking the Long Way (2006).
In 2001 Martie married Gareth Maguire, an actor from Northern Ireland. On their third wedding anniversary the couple purchased a ranch in Austin, Texas for $2,750,000.

The Maguires purchased the ranch from Dell Computer executive Charles Ball and his wife Troylyn, a realtor. Charles and Troylyn Ball's son Marshall was born with an undiagnosed illness that left him unable to talk and virtually unable to move on his own. At 13 years of age Marshall Ball authored the book Kiss of God: The Wisdom of a Silent Child.
