New York Yankees pitcher Mariano Rivera has sold one of his homes in Tampa, Florida's Avila country club community which had been listed since 2007. The twelve-time All-Star who purchased the four-bed, three-and-a-half-bath, 3,434 square-foot home for $615,000 in 2003 pocketed just $550,000 for the sale. The home was originally on the market with an asking price of $999,999 but was drastically reduced to just $589,000 prior to the sale.

Mariano Rivera has so far been unable to unload a much larger home also in Avila with an $8,990,000 asking price. The seven-bed, seven-bath, 9,250 square-foot waterfront mansion was placed on the market in April 2009, just before the five-time World Series champ purchased a slightly more robust 9,394 square-foot mansion in Rye, New York for $5.7 million. Built in 2007, the expansive 1.25 acre estate overlooking Lake Sloan offers a theater, billiard room, exercise room, play room, loft area, guest house, and a gated motor court with a five-car garage.
