Cootie, a towering 13-foot-tall 19-year-old Black man, resides in Oakland with his caring Aunt Lafrancine and Uncle Martisse. Sheltered from the outside world, his life takes an unexpected turn when a group of teenage political activists stumble upon him by chance.

I'm a Virgo was created by and directed by Boots Riley. Before I'm A Virgo, Riley was the writer and director for the 2018 black comedy film Sorry to Bother You that starred LaKeith Stanfield. He is also the lead vocalist for hip hop group The Coup.

Jharrel Jerome is probably best known for portraying Korey Wise, a man wrongfully convicted in the 1989 Central Park jogger case, in the Netflix crime drama miniseries When They See Us. The role earned him numerous awards including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie.
