How Did Red Clay Strays Become Famous?

Red Clay Strays is a country-rock band from Alabama that started making waves in the music scene around 2016. They were initially just a bar band, playing at small clubs and festivals. Their breakthrough came with the song “Wondering Why” from their 2022 album "Moment of Truth". The song tells a love story between an upper-class woman and a working-class man, put them on the mainstream map. The band is made up of Brandon Coleman (lead singer), Drew Nix (harmonicist/guitarist/vocalist), Zach Rishel (electric guitar), Andrew Bishop (bass), and John Hall (drums). They’ve got a unique sound that blends rockabilly, gospel, soul, blues, and a bit of country. They’ve also shared stages with iconic acts like Blues Travelers and Drivin’-N-Cryin’, and one of their songs, “Good Godly Woman”, was featured in the movie "Doctor Sleep". And now, they are even climbing the Billboard Hot 100-charts in January 2024 with “Wondering Why” which is positioned at number 71.
