Tom Petty's Gainesville, Florida family home

Tom's father Earl and his mother Katherine "Kitty" owned a home located at 1715 Northeast 6th Terrace. According to property records the home was built in 1952. two years after Petty's birth. An obituary for Earl Petty posted in a Google group (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/alt.obituaries/b41BrmyfYAM) states that when he passed away in 1999, he still lived in the same house that he bought in 1947. Therefore, whether or not Petty lived at the house on 6th Terrace for his entire childhood or beginning at two years of age or older is unclear. Regardless, continued research revealed that the home was listed for sale in early December 2015 and was marketed as "Tom Petty's Old Home."
