Black Girl Missing Plot

Cheryl and her daughter Lauren have a disagreement about Lauren's decision to drop out of college. Cheryl soon realizes that Lauren is missing and tries to get help from the authorities and the media. However, they quickly dismiss the case, labeling Lauren as a runaway and showing more interest in the case of a missing white girl. Desperate to find her daughter, Cheryl and her other daughter Marley turn to a community of amateur internet sleuths for help. Cheryl learns about the Black and Missing Foundation during this process and is horrified by the lack of attention and resources given to missing persons of color cases.
