Peter DeBoer landed the head coaching position with the NHL's New Jersey Devils in July 2011 after a three-year stint as head coach for the Florida Panthers. In September 2011, Peter DeBoer purchased a home in the Hill section of Madison, New Jersey. DeBoer paid $1,025,000 for the 3,023 square-foot home which he shares with his wife Susan. The home was built in 2009 and has three bedrooms, three full bathrooms and a half and was originally listed at $1,099,000.

Peter DeBoer was residing in Parkland, Florida's Heron Bay East golf club community before making the move to Madison, NJ. Soon after becoming head coach of the Panthers in 2008 DeBoer paid $800,000 for this five bedroom, four bathroom Mediterranean style home with a swimming pool and 5,019 square feet. DeBoer sold the home in October 2010 for $764,000.
